The Middle School recently announced the start-up of a Conservation Club
to promote more environmentally friendly habits within our school
community and beyond. The club hosted a showing of the documentary A
Plastic Ocean to give students an idea of the global problem plastic
waste is causing. The club also visited Collier County Hazardous Waste
Collection Center to learn how to best implement a recycling program at
school. Meetings will be held every other Friday and all Middle School
students are welcome to join.

Hello,

The new Conservation Club is working to reduce the number of single-use plastics we consume on campus.

In Advisory we are going to have a challenge to encourage students to bring reusable utensils rather than using the plastics in the dining hall. If your son/daughter brings reusable silverware and a refillable cup Tuesday through Friday of next week, I will host an ice cream party for them the following Monday.  You can just send the silverware and cup in their lunchbox with their snacks.  Many other advisories are having similar challenges and we have high hopes that together our conservation initiatives will be profound.

Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks so much!
